Quality Food and Drink in Holmesfield, on the edge of the Peak District

At The Angel we specialise in good quality food, locally sourced wherever possible, at reasonable prices, and hand-pulled cask ales. We aim to have up to six quality cask ales on tap and a good selection of wines. We have two sets of menus:

Heavenly Food

This menu consists of classic pub dishes cooked in a reassuringly old-fashioned way. For example:

• Fabulous Fish n Chips - fresh Grimsby cod cooked in beer batter with hand cut chips and mushy peas
• Local Lamb's Liver, pan fried served on 'Bubble and Squeak', with crispy streaky bacon and a rich onion gravy
• 10oz Gammon Steak, char grilled, served with tomato, mushroom and onion rings, hand cut chips, peas and a choice of pineapple or free range eggs

This is just a taster - we have many other mouthwatering dishes on our menu.

Devilishly Different

This menu is an innovative menu in the Tapas style, so you can pix and mix selections of different dishes. For example:

Intro Platter - Warm bread - Mixed olives - Mushrooms - Sun blushed tomatoes - Sweet pepper fondue

Lite Bites - select from items such as Snails out their houses, Roll mop herrings, Green lip mussels, Garlic Mushrooms

Salads - a range of salads from across the world

Pasta and Rice dishes - such as paella, tagliatelli, spaghetti

Fish dishes - including Gimsby cod, White tuna, Salmon and Moules

Meat dishes - goulash, lamb cutlets, chicken in red wine and many others

Side dishes - lots of vegetarian options included

Opening Times

We are closed on Mondays.

Tuesday evenings are Gluten-free nights.

Sunday Lunch is a traditional old-fashioned family lunch of 1, 2 or 3 courses.
